Jonathan Orchard has carved a distinctive niche in the rock-and-roll cabaret scene through his charismatic and unforgettable alter ego, Mr Split. Transforming himself with an elaborate costume, painted face, and signature wig, Orchard fully inhabits the character, delivering performances that are equal parts theatrical, musical, and psychologically immersive.
Each show often opens with the enigmatic lines: “Two birds twitter inside a cage and this is what they said: Mr Split, stop thinking we are trapped inside your head.”
This poetic introduction sets the tone for an evening where reality, imagination, and performance art elegantly intertwine. Orchard’s hand-crafted lyrics—frequently reminiscent of the wit and rhythmic flair of Gilbert and Sullivan—add another layer of sophistication to the experience, showcasing his skill as both storyteller and composer.
