A Streetcar In Rehearsal

Wed 29 Nov – Thu 30 Nov • 7:30pm • Full £14 Concs £12• Community Theatre

Unfortunately, due to cast illness, the Rondo Theatre Company is unable to perform A Streetcar Named Desire as planned in 2023. The company are working towards bringing a full production of this classic drama to The Rondo Theatre in 2024.

In its place, on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th November we are offering a unique opportunity to step behind the scenes of the rehearsal process. Blanche, Stella, Stanley and Mitch will guide audiences through the story of Streetcar, with rehearsed readings of key scenes. The audience will have the opportunity to ask the cast about their characters and portrayals in workshop style discussions.

The two evenings are intended to be engaging and ideal for both Tennessee Williams enthusiasts and those studying the text. There will also be the opportunity to discuss the practical challenges faced by non-professionals in bringing a play from the script onto the stage.

Please note that there is a theatre restoration levy of £1.50 per ticket. This levy applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. Telephone bookings incur an additional booking fee per transaction.

By Jonathan Larson

Based on Puccini’s beloved opera La Bohème, Rent is a rock musical that narrates the story of a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in Lower Manhattan’s East Village in the thriving days of the Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The group’s dreams, losses and love stories weave through the musical narration to paint a stunningly raw and emotional portrait of the gritty bohemian world of New York City in the late 1980s.

Maple Theatre Company is a brand-new theatre group that is bringing together a dynamic, vibrant and talented cast to give a fresh performance of Jonathan Larson’s award-winning vision.
