Performance Information & Regulations

 

 

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

FACILITIES

  • 105 seat small scale theatre.
  • Full use of the large heated dressing room, with toilets, shower, hand basins, mirrors, microwave, iron, tea & coffee making facilities.
  • Full use of the technical facilities and full use of the building from the agreed time
  • A fully staffed licensed bar within the auditorium, open from 30 minutes before your show, during the interval & after the show.
  • A full box office service through TicketSource (see below).
  • Box Office personnel before each performance
  • Entry in our season programme
  • Assistance with marketing.

Please note that a Theatre technician is NOT included and we do not have an in-house technician – it is essential that you have an experienced technician.

 

Performing

  • Per week: Box Office split. You will have access to The Rondo from midday on Sunday to the following Sunday at midday. The booking is for a maximum of four performances, from Wednesday to Saturday during the week of the booking. Additional performances, gala or promotional events are by negotiation ONLY.
  • Per day: for a fixed hire fee.
  • Box Office Split: for comedy and music only.
  • We reserve the right to use the auditorium and stage for meetings, rehearsals or other purposes when your company are not in the venue. This will not involve use of the dressing rooms or control room and will not involve moving set or technical equipment without your agreement. This allows us to maintain the excellent rental deal at the theatre.
  • It is a condition of hire that you MUST arrange your own Public Liability insurance.
  • It is a condition of hire that you MUST arrange and pay for all rights to perform the works you are bringing to The Rondo.
  • It is a condition of hire that you MUST NOT perform the same production within a FIVE mile radius of The Rondo any less than THREE MONTHS before your first performance or THREE MONTHS after your final performance without the express agreement of the Theatre Director.

 

TICKET SALES AND CONDITIONS

The Rondo Theatre is responsible for ticketing arrangements and uses TicketSource as a ticket agency: www.ticketsource.co.uk/rondotheatre – there is a small booking fee per ticket.

We reserve the right to issue complimentary tickets for your show to The Press, season sponsors or guests of The Rondo.

Concessions: Concessions on ticket prices are not obligatory, and you do not need to offer them. However, if you do, the Concessions policy is decided by The Rondo. All companies offering Concessions must adhere to this policy for the sale of tickets for their events. The policy is: Concession prices are available to children under 18, full-time students, Equity Members, unemployed benefit claimants, disabled people and those whose sole source of income is a DSS state retirement pension.

The auditorium is split into three separate seating sections.

The FRONT STALLS (rows A – E): 55 seats

The REAR STALLS (rows F – K): 50 seats

The FORESTAGE (rows AA & BB): 24 seats

When tickets go on sale, the front stalls ONLY are available at first; when bookings reach 30 seats sold, then the rear stalls are made available for sale. This is to ensure that the front section is always as full as possible.

The forestage is for stand-up comedy set ups of one person/one mic ONLY, and is put on sale when bookings reach 90 seats.

PPL/PRS

Every time copyrighted music is performed, licence should be obtained from PPL/PRS. Please contact them for details of current prices.

PAYMENT

We will send you a detailed ticket income statement within 21 days of your show plus, if applicable, an electronic payment of any monies owed via a bank account nominated by you in your contract. Please note: if you do not provide us with bank account details, we will not be able to pay you. The name of the nominated bank account on your contract should match your account details exactly.
Refunds: TicketSource will automatically refund customers if a performance is cancelled.
Cancellations: Any cancelled performances will incur the full cancellation fee plus charges as stated on your contract.

 

 

RULES & REGULATIONS WHILST IN THE VENUE

 

Please note: we expect everyone to abide by the Equity Safe Spaces statement while engaging in any activity in The Rondo:

Please note: your company MUST act on any requests made by Rondo Staff.

Please inform us of a person in charge of the venue who will see that all rules are adhered to.

Health & Safety

  • The Company is solely responsible for Health and Safety in the theatre with respect to onstage and backstage construction and activity.
  • The Company’s person in charge is responsible for evacuating the theatre in case of fire alarm, medical emergency or any event that requires the performance to be halted.
  • Gangways and fire exits are to be kept clear and not to be blocked with any equipment. Please ensure all your company knows the whereabouts of fire exits, alarms and fire extinguishers. Also ensure everyone is aware of the escape procedure.
  • Please ensure all ladders are used safely and that someone steadies the ladder whilst in use. Ladders must not be used by a person alone in the building.
  • All lanterns must be correctly hung with a safety chain or wire. Health & Safety must be considered at all times.
  • You must have no more than 35 cast, staff and crew in the building for any performance at The Rondo unless special circumstances have been arranged and contracted.
  • There is no smoking anywhere on The Rondo premises.
  • There is no eating or drinking allowed on the roof walkway.

Get In

  • Please avoid excessive noise outside the building, including on the roof.
  • Please be aware of the security of the venue at this time

General Security

  • The Company is responsible for backstage security at all times.
  • Please keep the back door closed at all times.
  • The Rondo accepts no responsibility for the loss of company valuables.
  • No foyer lights to be turned on during the day. Please use disabled toilet or those in dressing room.

Set Building

  • Do not cut wood, paint items or use any polishing sprays on the stage.
  • Please tidy up after yourselves and wash all painting equipment thoroughly.
  • Do not leave any set items outside the theatre
  • Please do not use the foyer for any set building/costume making – this area is used by Rondo staff during the day.
  • The fuse box for all non-stage electrics is situated in a cupboard in the ladies toilet – key 19.

Locking Up

  • When leaving the building ensure the appropriate internal and all exterior doors are properly shut and locked. Please ensure all lights are switched off.

Before The Show

  • The Company must vacate the stage space 35 minutes before the start of the show so that the main doors & bar can be opened.
  • The company must wait for clearance to be given by a member of Rondo Staff before starting the show.

During the Show

  • Please do not use any fine loose glitter on the stage.
  • Please be mindful of staining the stage if using fake blood, and use a rug or floor covering where possible.
  • Please do not place any lighting or other scenery/equipment in the stage right exit – this is a fire door that will automatically close if the fire alarm is triggered.
  • No foyer lights are to be turned off during performances.

Front of House

  • Box Office is run by The Rondo.
  •  Please keep numbers of FOH staff to a minimum – ideally only one person to sell programmes. Please do not clutter the Foyer and gangways with tables etc. as fire escape routes must be kept clear.
  • Please do not place any items such as tables, banners, raffle prizes, decorations etc. in the foyer without prior permission from Rondo staff. Gangways must be kept clear at all times in case of evacuation.
  • Your company and any guests of the company must act on requests of Rondo Staff.

Filming/Photography

  • Filming/videoing of performances is strictly prohibited. If you wish to film/video your production, please arrange to do this during a rehearsal.
  • No photography at all is allowed during performances.

After Shows

  • The bar will stay open for up to 30 minutes after the performance ends. Any longer than this is at the discretion of the bar staff.
  • If you are planning any group event or party at The Rondo on any night please seek permission from the Theatre Director in advance.

Get Out

  • Please ensure you are out by the time on your contract.
  • The Theatre must be left spotlessly clean.
  • If the back wall has been painted it must be repainted with two coats of Macpherson Vinyl Matt Black paint. No other black may be used. You can purchase this from Crown Decorating Centre.
  • Please ensure that all Rondo equipment is returned to where you found it, including lanterns.
  • Please take all set/props with you when you leave. We are unable to store any items not belonging to the theatre, so you must arrange for all large set pieces to be removed before the end of your hire.

Care of the Venue

  • The Rondo is run entirely by voluntary staff in all areas except administration. Please ensure all of your company address Rondo staff courteously at all times.
  • Whilst we understand building set can be messy please try to keep this to the back room of the stage.
  • Please ensure the theatre is kept clean and tidy with daily cleaning of the auditorium and front of house areas.
  • The Rondo is a very busy theatre, run on a shoestring with minimal staff – so please spare a thought for the company coming in after you, and leave the backstage and dressing room even cleaner and tidier than you have found it.
  • Please do not leave any set and please do not walk off with any of our stuff.

At the end of your stay please:

  • Hoover dressing room
  • Wash all mugs used
  • Wash all painting utensils used and leave the sink clean and clear
  • Remove all your waste, rubbish and set from the theatre. DO NOT leave any rubbish outside the theatre or in our neighbour’s skip at McCall’s.
  • Treat the theatre with respect and use your common sense at all times

Any failure to adhere to the above rules or any action which may cause damage to The Rondo’s equipment, building or reputation will result in a minimum £50 fine being levied on your company. We may also implement extra staffing costs on your next visit and for extreme cases we may refuse further visits by your company.
