Macbeth

Wed 6 – Sat 9 Jul • 7:30pm • Full £14 Concs £12 • Community Theatre

By William Shakespeare
Presented by Rondo Theatre Company

“Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires.”
In the aftermath of the first world war, following the return of the soldiers to a country that was struggling to support them, organised crime erupted in the inner-city areas of England. Familiar with violence, the gangs were ruthless in their pursuit of power.

Duncan, a much respected (and feared) leader keeps the peace but is usurped by one of his own – Macbeth – pushed on by his ambitious wife.

The three witches, from their opium den of inequity, predicted this future and set Macbeth on a path for greatness and, of course, ultimately… destruction.

Come and bear witness to our dark and gritty journey: Macbeth as you’ve never seen it before…

This is RTC’s annual charity production. All profits are in aid of Marie Curie.

How I Learned to Drive

Written by Paula Vogel
Presented by Bath Drama

A Broadway hit, this dark, funny, and insightful Pulitzer Prize winning play explores the uneasy relationship between a young girl and an older man.

The adult Li’l Bit tells the story – through flashbacks – of her younger self in 1960s Maryland: a precocious teen frustrated with her life, juvenile friends, and overbearing family. The only person who appreciates and supports her is Uncle Peck. But Peck also has other motives.

Through the lens of the driving lessons Peck gives the adolescent Li’l Bit, we watch her navigate loyalty, family, sexuality, love, and her own sense of right and wrong.

Please note that there is a theatre restoration levy of £1.50 per ticket. This levy applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. Telephone bookings incur an additional £1.80 booking fee per transaction.

Female Transport

Wed 26 – Sat 29 Oct • 7:30pm • Full £15 Concs £14 • Community Theatre

Written by Steve Gooch
Presented by Platform 8 Productions

This stark, hard-hitting, and often funny drama is based on events that actually happened in the 19th century.

Six women convicted of petty crimes are transported to Sydney Cove in Australia to a life of hard labour. During the 6 month voyage they are kept in a cramped cell below deck where they learn certain truths about society. Foremost among these is that they have been condemned due to the bias of a male dominated class system, represented in the play by the crew of the prison ship. Their consciousness raising is powerfully and sympathetically portrayed. At the end of their journey they have grown into a unified bunch of hardened fighters!

Please note that Female Transport contains strong language.

Please note that there is a theatre restoration levy of £1.50 per ticket. This levy applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. Telephone bookings incur an additional £1.80 booking fee per transaction.
