There’s something rotten in the state of Athens. The Athenian men are permanently at war with someone; anyone and everyone! Currently it’s The Spartans, last month it was the Trojans, the year before The Peloponnesians… Now Lysistrata has had enough. She persuades women across Greece to go on a sex strike until their husbands lay down their arms. No peace – no sex!
Aristophanes’ timeless comedy has been skilfully upgraded with moments of commedia dell’arte slapstick and modern music, but without losing any of the naughtiness or feminist ideals. She’ll laugh, he’ll cry, they’ll stop fighting… if he knows what’s good for him!
Please note that a theatre restoration levy of £1 per ticket applies to all transactions, whether made in person at our Box Office, by post or by phone, for all payment types. Telephone bookings incur an additional £1.75 booking fee per transaction.
