The Slide Show returns to the Rondo after a sell-out appearance in 2004.

In a small hall somewhere in England, a slide show begins, presented by an enthusiastic husband and wife team. But their innocent dabbling accidentally unleashes a potent ancient force - a force with many enemies...

Visual and comic theatre at its very best - erotic soundscapes, twisted puppet gods and a brand new high-speed art form - on wheels.

“Makes you dizzy with its non-stop invention” - The Guardian

Tickets: £9, Concs£7 Drama

A husband and wife team present a series of cultural slides in a small hall, somewhere in England. The topic? Ancient Greece. Unbeknownst to them, their innocent dabblings unleash a potent, ancient force - Dionysus, lord of misrule, champion of freedom. The curly-haired king of mischief soon makes his presence felt, disturbing the couple's cosy existence and disrupting the show. But he is a force with many enemies. There are those in authority who dislike his message of freedom and would stop at nothing to send him back where he came from. The authoritarian enforcers pursue him relentlessly, eager to crush him and his new accolytes, now caught up in a fight to the death.

Slot Machine are Fiona Creese and Nick Tigg, and are supported by The People Show.

“I can only describe the Slide Show as one of the most finely tuned pieces of performance theatre I have ever had the pleasure to watch”

“There is a God, and he has sent us Slide Show, that we might live again”

“I died with pleasure at the scooter ballet. How can I give them all my money?”

“As knee-tremblingly close to heaven as you're going to get on this dodgy island”

“I think I burst my heart and pee-d my pants laughing but it was worth every year that it took off my life”

“You've just got to see it to believe the lengths that performers Fiona Creese and Nick Tigg have gone to to provide an unsurpassable evening of entertainment”

“This really is as good as it gets”

Slot Machine were formed in 2002 by Fiona Creese and Nick Tigg, both of whom have been a part of the experimental theatre company The People Show for the last 16 years. The Slide Show was originally a People Show and appeared at the Rondo in 2004 as part of the Bath Festival - it was sold out and very warmly received. The People Show continue to support Slot Machine, both through financial help and invaluable advice - this show would never have been relaunched without them and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude.

There is a promo of the show on our myspace site at www.myspace.com/slotmachineHQ

Nick Tigg and Fiona Creese also have a cabaret act, based on the characters from the Slide Show, and you can see some of their work on YouTube by searching for UkuleleEvangelists.

The Slide Show is a quirky comedy with a serious point. It is visual theatre at its best - audio-visual trickery, an amazing soundscape, a set that is almost another character in the piece and is actually climbed on/in/over/through during the show, some ridiculous puppetry and surprises galore. Andy Burden, previously artistic director of the Rondo, called the show “adventurous and totally accessible”.

“very funny, scores of unusual ideas, lots of comedy and performances which stood out. Don't miss it.” - Philip Key Liverpool Daily Post

“an audacious charmer... inspired theatre... sharp wit, clever invention and much sublime physical comedy... performed with grace and great skill” - Kevin Berry The Stage

“a richly comic evening... genuine visual wit... I was enthralled and altogether very impressed with the Slide Show” - Pat Lower Plymouth Evening Herald

“If you see only one production this month, head for the BAC for The Slide Show... mesmerizing... a triumph” - Yvonne Gordon Wandsworth Guardian
