Hotly-tipped Bristol-based company Publick Transport bring you their hit debut show - a cock-eyed meditation on life as seen through the eyes of two office workers as they hurtle towards the centre of the earth in a lift.

Verbal slapstick, visual wisecracks and vertiginous melodrama combine in this very funny staging of the unstageable.

“Entertainingly absurd.” The Scotsman

20,000 Leagues Under The Office

‘20,000 Leagues Under the Office’ is a comedy about two office workers on a lunch-break who suddenly find themselves stuck in a lift that is hurtling towards the centre of the earth. The funny side of that is explored through a series of desperate phone calls, attempts at mind-over-matter, displays of heroism, confessions of love, stupid jokes, ingenious bracing positions and other coping mechanisms. However, all is not what it seems, and the characters, as well as the audience, soon find themselves sifting through many strata of deception, necessary by-products of a situation that is both absurd and unstageable. What remains is a show about play - with time, space, genre, narrative, language, theatrical conventions and audiences' expectations.

Publick Transport is a new Bristol-based theatre company founded by Angus Barr (Ridiculusmus) and Saba McKinnon, with a single mission - not to bore audiences, to be achieved by all means available, including brute force if necessary.
