Dougie Blaxland
Wed 4th February to Sat 7th February at 7:00pm

A haven of loving support or a cauldron of bubbling tension: what is the real truth about family life in Britain today? Dougie Blaxland’s powerful new black comedy tells the story of three families struggling in their different ways with the pressures of modern urban life. Directed by Rondo Theatre Director, Ian McGlynn, If I Were A Carpenter is a compelling and entertaining drama.
This play is ambitious, provocative and highly original: it asks fundamental questions about family life in contemporary Britain and in particular about the relationship between the modern state and its individual citizens. All the girls said he was The Man With Lucky Lips searching for his Valentine but what do they know? Where had he come from? Where was he going? Why the limp?

All these factors contributed to the decisions and strategy he adopted during his period of command in the first world war.
