About Us

The Rondo is a truly unique venue with an intimate and friendly atmosphere situated in Larkhall’s easily accessible shopping centre. The Rondo offers 105 excellent seats all close to the stage, a great bar (you can drink as you watch the show!) and a hugely varied programme of events.

The Rondo grew out of the local community and has become a home for enthusiasts who reflect a wide variety of interests and experience in the performing arts. The Rondo has risen from a rehearsal hall to become one of England’s busiest and most atmospheric small theatres. Each year nearly 80 different companies visit us, bringing with them a wide variety of theatre, music and performance.

We welcome companies who make regular returns, established companies visiting for the first time, and encourage new companies both amateur and professional and student groups. The affordable hire rates of The Rondo make the venue accessible to all.

The Itchy Guide to Bath says:

“You get a feeling of belonging to a special club when you watch a play here as the bar is right next to the seating which is only a few feet from the stage… If you like your theatre informal but still with quality productions, then track this place down”

The birth of The Rondo Theatre in 1989 sprang from the extraordinary generosity of Doreen and Wilf Williams. Having bought the building from St Saviours Church in 1976 to turn it into a concert venue and centre for the local community, they gifted the freehold to the newly formed charity, The Rondo Trust. Work started on a new bar, raked seating and a control room above the auditorium.

In 1996 the theatre received a major lottery and sports and arts grant that enabled the building to be extended to provide dressing rooms, a backstage room, offices and a foyer at the front of the building.

In 2003 the theatre received a second lottery grant to install state of the art lighting equipment.

In 2017 we launched our brand new website – we hope you like it!
